The area was gazetted as the country’s first national park in 1973. Recognizing its unique ecosystems of international significance, UNESCO declared CNP a World Heritage Site in 1984. Among the 14 national parks and wildlife reserves in the kingdom, the Royal Chitwan National Park covered 932 sq. km., which is the most popular safari destination. More then 43 species of animals are found here. You will be exploring deep jungles on Elephant back ride or 4-wheel drive vehicles to view wild animals in their national habitat. Other thrills are canoe rides on jungle rivers, nature walks, bird watching excursions and village tour. The endangered one horned Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, Gharial Crocodile, Four Horned Antelope, Stripped Hyena and Gangetic Dolphin are the main attractions.
